    To Gammy’s House We Go…

This summer has looked so different for the Sloans, as I’m sure it did many families. In early June, we learned that our flights to Rwanda in July had been canceled which was heartbreaking. However, with Cory working for himself now, it freed up some time for us to take an actual vacation- like a full week of time together not on the mission field, something we haven’t had in years. Rwanda 2018 | Days 10 & 11

Hi Friends! Happy Friday- at least I think it’s Friday! To be honest, I don’t which way is up or which way is down these days. We’ve been quarantined for 7 weeks and very rarely do I know the day of the week. When the quarantine first started, I thought to myself “Now will be the perfect time to get caught up on all the blog post I want to write” but I have really struggled to find a new normal being at home with Baker all day and trying to get work done for my actual, full- time job. After my great-grandparents passed away, my grandparents moved to SC to be closer to family and the trips, obviously, stopped. Four years ago, we started the tradition again and have taken a mountain getaway with my family each Christmas. We set aside time to head back to the mountains, to end our year with some quality family time. As each year passes, I am more thankful for the time with my grandparents. This year, my mom’s parents joined in on the…

    Rwanda 2018 | Days 8 & 9

Happy Friday, friends! I’m back today to share our first couple of days in the capital city of Kigali from Rwanda 2018. Thinking back to this trip, these days were hard but man, were they good! Baker had just turned two and required someone’s undivided attention most of the time, meaning either Cory or myself had to sit a few things out but I’m so thankful for the opportunities and exposure to experiences she’s gotten from such a young age. Moments like the one above, give me hope. Hope in a world that is divided, often by the color of our skin or the material objects we own. Hope in…
