Five on Friday

Five on Friday

Happy Friday, my friends. How in the world is it already Friday, though? Is time just flying by to anyone else??

I’m linking up with all kinds of fun ladies today for my Five on Friday {darci, karli, amanda, lauren, andrea} …you should too!

ONE | The only thing I asked for my birthday was for my car to be cleaned. Like really cleaned. I’m kinda ashamed to admit how dirty I let it get so Cory took Monday afternoon and scrubbed it for me. He even cleaned the seats! I don’t think it’s ever been this clean.

TWO | We got our tree out late Tuesday evening and somehow we had forgotten {or pushed it out of our minds} how much trouble we had with the lights last year. The wiring must be bad in the tree because if you move certain bulbs, whole sections will cut off. We briefly contemplated just cutting all the lights off and adding new lights and then we considered just buying a new tree. Neither of those options really sounded very appealing to us so we got all the sections, except one, working and went and bought a couple extra strands to compensate for the bulbs that are out.

After $20, a couple hours and 900 lights, we transformed our tree into this…

THREE | When I was younger, I used to HATE having breakfast for dinner. Don’t ask me why but I would never eat it when my mom would make it. Now, it’s one of my favorite meals. As cold as it’s been this week, I spent Wednesday evening by the fire, in my flannel pjs enjoying my pancakes, eggs and bacon.

FOUR | When we got home from Rwanda, we had interviews and pictures for about 80 kids that we had to get organized and typed up into a profile that will provide information on the children to their sponsor. It’s been a long process but I finally finished the profiles this week!

FIVE | We are having  family pictures taken tomorrow for our Christmas card and I absolutely cannot decide on our outfits.  I have an idea of what I’d like for us to be in but that’s about it. I stopped into Old Navy the other day and still couldn’t come up with anything. Does anyone else have this problem? Why is picking out coordinating outfits so hard?! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Other than family pictures, the only things on our agenda for the weekend are decorating the house for Christmas and our first Thanksgiving meal. It’s gonna be a good one!

What’s on your agenda this weekend?

Love sweet little patrick! I used to work in a position overseeing a child sponsorship program through an organization…and my heart was constantly tugged, and overwhelmed with love when you realize how far just a tiny bit of money goes and the difference it makes in a childs life. love it!

I love breakfast for dinner but my fiance isn’t a fan and says it doesn’t count as dinner, no fair! That boy is so sweet. I’m thinking about sponsoring a child, i just need to go through with it and decide on what organization to do it through. there are so many people in this world with so much less, breaks my heart.

my weekend will be seeing the mockingjay premiere and doing soem christmas shopping! :) good luck with picture outfits, i’m sure whatever you choose will be gorgeous!

HEY I USED TO HATE BREAKFAST FOR DINNER AS WELL! MY MUM RARELY MADE IT, BUT NOW I LOVE HAVING EGGS OR PANCAKES FOR DINNER. OR A BOWL OF CEREAL LETS BE REAL HAHA. I LOVE YOUR TREE, YOU REALLY MADE IT WORK WITH THE LIGHTS, SO PRETTY!

Our bottom row of lights were out last year – I need to go grab a few strings to put on there.

As a photographer – go with SIMPLE for your pics. Don’t over think it. Jeans, boots, a sweater (red is great for Christmas cards) & a scarf.. simple. trust me. Some people over think & have on so much & such crazy patterns – it distracts.

Hurray for a clean car! And taking family photos will be fun! I can’t wait to see the results! I have a pretty loose definitely of ‘coordinating’ so I never really have a problem with that…

Okay so I’m really late to the party for advice on your pictures… but I hope you found something cute!!! :) I was having the same problem figuring out to wear for ours this weekend too! Your tree looks great with all those lights! Lights are definitely the worst part about a tree! Yay for a clean car! :) Oh and breakfast for dinner is my fave! We had pancakes for dinner this week too! :)

Oh, our car is a total mess right now! It’s a total dog-mobile. There is so much hair everywhere!! We still have to do our Christmas pictures and I have no idea where to start. We need to do them soon though or I know they won’t be happening this year. And I’m totally craving pancakes now!

  • Paige Gunter

Yay! you have up Christmas decorations!!! I always wondered if you couldn’t just add lights to those prelit trees. It looks beautiful! We have been crazy elves around here for at least a month now. I’m sure someone is frowning at that confession, but Christmas is too happy a time to put off, lol! Can not wait to see the rest of your decorations!

That’s so sweet of Cory to clean your car for you! I know having a clean car just makes me feel better!

Your tree looks almost as amazing as your breakfast for dinner. I love bacon.

Patrick is the cutest! I remember the “I wanna be a man when I grow up” from one of your Rwanda recaps and I literally laughed out loud when I read it. I hope all their prayers are answered!
