Weekend Recap

Valentine’s Weekend

Happy cold and snowy Tuesday, y’all even though we actually haven’t gotten any snow here. Know what we have gotten? About a 1/2 an inch of ice, which is always a disaster in the South!  I was sooo lazy yesterday and really hoping I can be lazy again today but as of now, I’m headed into work at 12:30.

Onto our weekend…

We started our weekend off with a little birthday party for Gracie on Friday night.

So intense!

We were facetiming John and Jordan because they were pretty bummed to be missing G’s birthday. Isn’t technology wonderful?! Jordan had his wisdom teeth out Friday morning so this was the only way he was getting cake any time soon!

She’s been asking for a locket for a while now and was so excited to see that my parents got her one!

This was definitely the sweetest part of the night {which is hard to see} but Jordan handed the phone to John and disappeared for a few minutes while Gracie was opening her presents. They are at AIT school now and had Friday and Monday off, so all his bunk mates were hanging out in a living area of their barracks. Jordan returned and asked us to hand Gracie the phone, he turned his phone around and all of his company buddies sang Happy Birthday to Gracie. I wish you could have seen the grin on G’s face! I’m pretty sure we all had tears in our eyes. She is so lucky to have John and Jordan as her big brothers!

We woke up on Saturday to a grumpy Hampton. Someone wasn’t excited about Valentine’s day.

I had flowers, a card and a heating pad waiting on me. Yes, my husband got me a heating pad because I mentioned the other day I wish I had one that fastened around me so it would stay in place. I was so excited!

After breakfast, we started our geocaching adventure!

It was pretty chilly but we had a good time. Cory probably enjoyed it a little more than I did because the wind was so brutal but I really enjoyed being outside and venturing around with my husband.

Most of the caches we looked for were up towards the mountains and we always enjoy driving up the mountain.

We picked up some dinner from our favorite mexican restaurant, moved our mattress to the living room and had dinner and a movie night in bed.

We watched The Good Lie and The Best of Me and The Good Lie was probably the best movie I’ve ever seen. It is definitely a must see! The Best of Me was okay…I was shocked by the ending {even though I don’t know why! It’s based off of a Nicholas Sparks novel and one that I haven’t read}. I liked everything but the ending.

Sunday was busy day as we were preparing for the bad weather this week. We had absolutely no split wood, which isn’t our main source of heat, but we like to have plenty in supply in case we are to lose power.

We were so blessed by some friends of ours from church that hooked us up with this wood!

While we were unloading the wood, Hampton and Charlie actually played together! It was an intense wrestling match for about 20 minutes which is a huge deal because this is the first time Hampton has showed any interest in being around her.

Like idiots, we waited until Sunday evening to go to the grocery store {not to get just milk and bread but because we were out of everything}. Please tell me this doesn’t just happen in the south!

On top of getting ready for the snow, we also sold two cars this weekend. Never in our wildest dreams did we think that we would sell both of our cars in four days. Yes, four days! We listed the truck on Thursday evening and it was gone on Sunday and the explorer went today without even listing it.

#soblessed

After 11 years, it was kinda hard to say goodbye to my first car. As her new owner put it, “oh, if this car could talk!”…you have no idea!

As for Charlie, she’s taken the position in front of the fire and pretty much hasn’t moved!

How was your Valentine’s weekend? What all did you do?

I laughed out loud at that picture of Hampton on Instagram, so funny! Geocaching sounds like the best time, we’ve never done it but it sounds like the perfect free date night! Probably have to wait til the weather gets better though :) Drive safe today!!

How sweet that your hubs remembered you talking about a heating pad. I would virtually say, I NEED you to get ____ & my hubs would still be like, “I didn’t know what to get you” :)

Technology definitely is the coolest to bring people together in today’s world…

Love you two did a movie stake out…

your valentines day sounds amazing. i will have to check out the good lie. i started to read the best of me a couple of years ago (when it first came out) but it was so boring and hard to get through, i gave up. i love a good sparks novel every now and again (walk to remember, the notebook.. sigh) but yeah i just couldn’t dig it. plus i hate how he always wants to break your heart and kill someone or have a bad ending, lol.

Your brothers were so sweet! That story even had me tearing up. :) I love your Valentines Day Gift. Our husbands would get along great, lol. Justin was more excited about the practical gifts he bought me for Christmas last year than he has ever been over any gift. I think it says a lot that they listen so carefully. As for the grocery shopping escapade, actually I am worse than you. At least you made it to the store. We put it off and then knew the store would be crazy and then thought the weather would be better by now. I am scrimping by with cooking in this house. Y’all did WAY better than us!
