Weekend Recap

Weekending

Happy Monday Tuesday, y’all! Now that August graduation is over and students are back in Clemson, I’m back to my normal schedule of having Mondays off and it was needed after last week. We had a weekend that was very much “back to normal” for us and boy, was it nice!

So nice, in fact, that I hardly took any pictures!

Friday night we had dinner with Cory’s mom {she lives in Alabama and is town} and her cousin Keasler. We had a lot of catching up to do and what better way to do it than over BBQ nachos???

Saturday morning I slept until 11am {it was heavenly} and when I woke up, I saw the sweetest Facebook status that Cory posted.

He’s on a roll y’all! I got these at work last week, personally delivered by my sweet boy :) It’s okay…you can be jealous!

We ran a few errands and hit up some thrift stores looking for suitcases we can take supplies to Rwanda in. We will just leave them there so we needed cheap, light bags. We found two but still looking for two more. Saturday afternoon, Amber and I headed to Anderson to get the last few things we both needed for the trip and then we went to see If I Stay.

Goodness, y’all! It was really good but I just about cried through the whole movie. And it ended on a total cliffhanger! As soon as we sat down in the movie, Cory sent me a text telling me about how crazy his past couple hours had been.

Apparently, he discovered a second yellow jacket nest in our yard but not before he got stung {again!} but this time on his lip. Some how a swarm got into our house when he set the nest on fire and he had to rescue Stein and Hampton but not before one got Stein on the nose :( Thankfully, Stein isn’t allergic like his dad.

When I got home, he was asleep on the couch and his neck was really swollen. I woke him up to make sure he could breathe but it freaked me out. Looks like he’ll be going to the doctor to get an Epipen for future bee stings.

Since I was worried his neck would swell shut and he wouldn’t be able to breathe, I couldn’t sleep. Amber had told me that there was a second book to the If I Stay series called Where She Went , so I downloaded it on the Kindle and stayed up late {almost all night} reading and checking on Cory. I still would like to read the first book but Amber said the movie followed book pretty closely.

After church on Sunday, we had lunch with Daniel and Tiffany and when we got home, we hit the couches. I started reading again but couldn’t keep my eyes open so I joined Cory for a nap. Cory’s face was still swollen from the sting and he ended up sleeping the whole afternoon. After about an hour or so, I picked the Kindle back up and finished the book. {Less than 24 hours is a new record for me!}

Sunday evening, we had a meeting planned for the Rwanda team and after the meeting, we started packing some of the suitcases with the supplies and clothes we will be taking.

Hampton and Einstein were obviously thrilled for us to be packing.

Monday morning, I had a hair appointment and Brittany’s always doing crazy things to give me what I want. I will post pictures of my hair but I’m still trying to decide if I like it.

After my hair appointment, we had to run back to Anderson to exchange a broken piece of fall decorations I got on Saturday. On the way home, we stopped at Starbucks for a PSL only to be told they weren’t selling them yet. I was pretty disappointed and had to settle for a Chai Frappuccino instead.

Monday evening, I had so much I needed to get done. I had blog post that needed to be written and three baskets of laundry that needed to be put up but it was such a beautiful evening and the dogs were loving being outside.

I decided the laundry and blog could wait and we joined the dogs in the back yard. We even pulled Einsteins tennis ball out of hiding {because he pushes it under the couch and drives us crazy with it inside} and must have thrown it 100 times.

Stein won’t let Hampton get near his tennis ball so we brought out Hampton’s favorite toy too. As you can tell by the crazy look in his eyes, he was enjoying the play time.

Just look at these smiling faces, y’all. It was well worth it to blow of my list and wear these guys out playing. Perfect end to a perfect weekend :)
