Weekend Recap

Weekending: Labor Day Style

Happy Labor Day, y’all! Even though the university is open today, Monday is my regular day off so I’m enjoying the day labor free {kinda}.

We are in the final countdown to our trip to Rwanda {7 days!} so today has been all about getting things in order at home and with the dogs so we can be away for two weeks. The dogs have been groomed, we scheduled to have new tires put on my car tomorrow, stopped by Verizon and got a replacement phone for Cory ordered {his sleep button on his iPhone quit working} and bought groceries to last us the week–nothing to exciting, right?

It’s nice to mark these things off my list, though. #adulthoodatitsfinest

Onto our weekend recap…

Friday night, I was craving some wings so we headed to Anderson for Wild Wings and a little shopping for two special littles. I imagine this to be our future if we never have a son.

We stopped by Starbucks and picked up my first PSL of the season. Honestly, McDonald’s has a better PSL but they aren’t out yet.

Saturday morning, I got woken up by a snoring, wet nose in my ear and discovered Hampton had made his way up to the top of the bed. If they sleep with us, they normally stay at the foot of the bed. This was at 6:30 am and I couldn’t fall back asleep so I got up {this never happens!} and started cleaning {this never happens!}. I don’t know what go into me but 8:30am, I had the all the sheets washed and had scrubbed the grout in our bath tub with a toothbrush.

Stein has had a hot spot on his back for about a two weeks now and while we were able to stop it from spreading, we weren’t able to stop him from scratching the scab off. In order for it to heal, we had to come up with a way to keep him from scratching it while we weren’t home.

With a little gauze and tape, we bandaged him up. He felt super sorry for himself but it helped and the spot is almost healed now.

Saturday afternoon we headed to Braxton and Adalynn’s birthday party. We sure do love the Bramletts and not just because their family and we have to.

Cory has a ton of experience of putting together toys from Christmas with my family so the guys jumped right on the assembly of the new Big Wheels…such good guys :)

We left the party just in time to meet up with Amber and head to Chad and Tonya’s to catch the kickoff of the Clemson vs. Georgia game. I was pretty disappointed that we lost because we played so well the first half and then after half time, I’m not even sure the same team came out of the locker room. It was pretty bad but we still had a good time.

Sunday morning, Cory led worship at church and it. was. awesome. I really wish I had videoed the first song because Cory put an awesome spin on an old hymn. The Holy Spirit showed up and showed out and before the worship was over, we had an alter call.

I’ve said it before but Cory is so gifted and it makes my worshiping experience so much deeper to see Cory using his talents to serve the Lord. I’m so proud of him and I left church with my heart full.

Sunday afternoon was spent putting out my fall decorations, cleaning, snapping some promised pictures of my new ombre hair and small group.

Even though we didn’t have big plans for our Labor Day weekend, we still had a great one! How was your weekend?
